The Lotus Flower Giving Society was created out of love and in memory of Jacob A. Madonia who passed away on April 17, 2018, after a 10-year battle with synovial sarcoma.

Jake always wanted to help others. As both a nurse and patient at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, he was acutely aware of his blessings, including his widespread network of support and ability to access resources and treatments that provided him with such a high quality of life for so long. From this grew his vision for The Lotus Flower Giving Society.
It has been a great pleasure to take care of my patients and their families and I have done nothing but treat them the way I want to be treated when I am lying in that hospital bed. Helping them navigate their way through this terrible disease is my way of fighting cancer.
